The DGmag - Mud Fight

Issue: 79

Released: 18/04/22

Hello readers! A slight revamp to DGmag's design.

The main changes include the logo and the strip's speech bubbles. Apart from that though, the overall design has mainly been untouched. Oh, and the strip's logos and text on top of the page have too, been tweaked. The text in black is now in Arial Black and not Aharoni. The text for the website link and the word presents over the logo are too, now changed from Aharoni to Calibri (Body).

Apart from that, the change isn't too drastic. It's just a more simplified route as the logo still looked a tad too cluttered. This one and the banner-head is a bit more calmer on the eye. My iPad Pro illustrations (including a logo drawn in Procreate) are now present, instead of having the logo and drawings from PowerPoint.

A slightly redesigned cover and a newer take on the logo.

Your mother has probably left to give you some privacy Hood.

And the whole strip repeats itself on a loop.
Read it again, seem familiar?

Timmy are you ok? So tell me, are you ok? Are you ok, Timmy?

They turn up so much, that Scratch is technically, Dom's cat now!

You could have kept that secret quiet you know Mandy?

Mandy! WATER you doing?!! NOOOOOOOO!!!

Dominic here, has obviously seen a certain Bill Murray, in a certain
film, revolving around certain ghostbusters!

Hannnnnng on a minute... Has Tom and the Penguins had
a revamp too?

First they demand milk. Then they demand rusks. Then teddies.
What next, nappy changes?!! Does this madness, ever end?

I mean, Dominic finger puppet does make a valid point Ginger finger puppet.

I don't know about you lot, but something tells me that
that isn't K9 and The Doctor...

The DGmag - One from 1945, Issue.2

Well... That took forever to finally come out...

This issue was intended to come out last year to follow on from the first 1945 edition. However, it appeared as if last year had other plans. It wasn't that I didn't have time to male it, it was actually because I just simply didn't really know HOW, to go about this one.

I'll be honest with you all, making a DGmag from the 1940s was great fun! Really, it was. But realistically, when you are trying to set a comic from the modern era to look like it came from the past...well, that can be a real struggle. Mainly because as I wasn't even around in the 40s, I have no idea really on how people back then spoke or even sometimes acted. The only real reference material I had on me were old Beano and Dandy comics from that era. Even then, they are all replicas. And you can believe me, the majority of material which was allowed then is now outdated. And indeed rightly a good thing too!! So, as you can guess, recent replicas are removing any offending material. Which is no bad thing.

The real answer here, is that these editions are indeed harder to make than your normal DGmag. Quite simply because I am having to try my best to write and draw in the old fashioned style, while staying with an issue which won't offend anyone. And even my old fashioned drawing style cannot beat the brilliance of the late Dudley D. Watkins. He was a true Beano and Dandy legend in the making!

So, will I make another DGmag in the old style? Well sadly, probably not! This has been too hard a challenge. And although a really fun one, it has been a bit too difficult at times to even force myself to think in that era. Yes, I did enjoy English at school, but to write in an old style is harder if you weren't even born from that time period!

Still, these two editions were a fun idea to try for the 2020 revamp onwards, but I think that I'll be better suited to sticking with the regular style of DGmags set in the current eras and onwards.

I hope you've enjoyed the last 1945 issue anyway and likewise, enjoy this one too!

DGmag Special - DGmag Meet Top Cat

Released: 15/02/22

A very tip top edition of DGmag for you all readers!

What a top tip cover!

I mean, yeh! Ginger would probably begin to judge you if
you passed flatulence Hood!

Ginger likes head rubs.

A cruise liner? Wouldn't a plane have been easier? Oh well,
why am I questioning this? I made the comic strip!!

A very convincing "posh lady"!

Ewwwwwww!! Ginger's covered in spat out tea, and it
isn't even hers!!

Realistically, Dom's only won if he shows them his hand.
So technically, he's lost!!

Anyone who's read this diary entry will be arrested, according
to Officer Dibble! But nobody listens to him...

A plane to nowhere? No thank you!

All together, sing along now!

DGmag Special - Best of Dom & Ginger

Released: 24/01/22

Just a little treat for you all. To bide you over till the next new edition. Here's a collection of the best Dom and Ginger strips since the 2020 revamp.

Top Cat special coming soon this year...

That's an interesting logo variation.

Right then! Let's go...

The first Dom & Ginger strip of 2020, and the first one from
the recent revamp too!

Not eggs-actly what Mandy planned for. Still, she was careless...

Innocence!! How dare you hurt poor Dom like that!!

Gosh! My iPad style was more messy then! This is the first strip
I drew via Procreate though, so it makes some sense.

That's one odd looking face. He must have been terrified to
make a face like that!

See? Much better!

I think that this fish likes The Beatles. I might be wrong though.

Took to long on that litter tray I'm afraid Ginger!

Here's an interesting anecdote, this image was a rough design for
a Dom's Doodles greeting card. Odd that. To see my cards
